Nerf’s Take On the Classic Tennis Ball for Dogs
The Nerf Tennis Ball Blaster Distance Ball with squeaker is your standard dog fetch toy with a squeaky toy twist. It has a low fuzz exterior and is made 30% light for safety.
This nerf dog ball is a fetch toy that also squeaks so your dog will want to get its paws on this faster than you can throw it. You might not even get it fetched back when your dog decides to start chewing it to get to the squeaker instead. The colors are run and bright with the felt feeling quite nice in the hand.
Quality & Durability
These Nerf balls are slightly thinner than a regular tennis ball. With the ball in your hand, you can feel the difference. It doesn’t have the bounce of a real tennis ball nor the same weight, it is very close though. The squeaker is small and not to loud. My biggest gripe with this ball is the seams between the two halves of the ball. My Rottweiler Eli was able to chew a few of these and split them in no time at all.
Once the ball is split there is not much left the dog can do with it. The squeaker would probably have been chomped on by then. At which point you’ll be left with two tennis ball halves, a crushed squeaker and maybe some shredded felt. Oh, and regrets.
Indoor use: Very light though has a decent bounce so watch out for stuff on counters.
Outdoor use: The fuzz on these is thin so it doesn’t pick up as much dirt as a regular tennis ball. Clean as necessary.
This nerf ball did not stand up to the Chew Test. I already went through 4 of these in less than a week so I’ll have to rate this toy on the lower end. Nerf did not design these for Rottweilers or Pitbulls, but it was most likely meant for smaller dogs or dogs with much less bite force.
I came across these as part of the Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster gun pack which came with 4 of them. After a couple of uses, I was left with a blaster gun without a ball to shoot with. My dog had already chewed them all in half trying to get the squeaker out. I would recommended that these nerf dog squeaker balls be used with small dogs or medium sized dogs at best.
This might last longer with small and some medium sized dogs but for any kind of power chewer this won’t last. Keep an eye on it if you decide to get this as you would with any tennis ball.
- Dogs love balls and squeaky toys
- Dogs love destroying squeaky toys
- Mediocre build quality
